  1. im guessing you would need car insurance at all times, so the sooner the better..
  2. No matter which state in the USA you are in, your insurance coverage is only as good as what you've paid for. So, if you only have liability insurance, and you get in a wreck, your own vehicle will not be covered for damage. Do you really need full coverage for a used vehicle? Only if you have a loan against it. Or if it cost a lot of money. But if it was fairly cheap (like under $1000), why bother getting full coverage? Call your agent today for details.
  3. Ok, there's NO time limit, if you didn't have full coverage before, you don't have it, until the company says you do. So add it IMMEDIATELY, or prior to picking up the new car.
  4. you can call your insurance company to add it at any time. once you call the change it, your agent should bind coverage and you will have the full coverage.
  5. If you want that full coverage, then immediately. Some insurance companies let you make changes over the phone. But to change over to full coverage, all companies require you to bring in the vehicle so they can check and record if there are any prior damages before you get their insurance.
