Can I park my un-used car on the road, without Insurance?

I'm purchasing a car but i haven't passed my test yet, i wont be using it. The car im getting has MOT so do i still need to get insurance if its just sitting there until i pass? Thanks. as much info as u can please. x

  2. It is subject to being ticketed or towed (seems grossly unfair but that's the way it is).
  3. you need to insure your car,otherwise it will be towed.
  4. no you can't. the bloke above me is right... I left my unregistered car on the side of the road because my landlord wouldn't let me park it out back and it was towed and crushed...
  5. No - if it's licensed - you have to have insurance. You can put it in a garage and turn in your license plate until you're ready to drive it. Then you won't have to pay insurance. Also, if the car is garaged (and not being driven), the insurance companies will give you a reduced amount (the car remains licensed though). This is good for military people who go overseas for a year or more.
  6. no, they can tow it and if it were to get hit and them roll forward over a kid, you would have to have insurance and would be sued personally (and ticketed) if you did not have it. Put it in the garage or pay to place it in a storage unit.
  7. You pretty much have to hide it until you get it legal.
