women want equal rights. then why have cheaper rates for women car insurance?

women moan about equal rights. but they won't say anything about women only car insurance because they will be getting a good deal. if they want equal rights then get rid of this women only thing, and why should we open doors for them and let them go first ,

6. One has nothing to do with the other. Rates are better for women for one reason....we are safer drivers, especially compared to young males. As far as equal rights go, when are companies going to pay women the same wage for the same work?

And as for our driving skills, we're much more apprehensive about driving than men, I think we just care more, rather than just pull out and do the 'white van man'.

10. Becasue they have less accidents as they are not so prone to aggressive driving and risk taking. It's perfectly OK for an insurance company to base it's pricing on risk, that's how it works. I think the error lies in believing women want equal rights. They only want equal rights (quite justifiably and correctly) in those area of life where they are currently disadvantaged. However, I've yet to see many OFFERING equal rights in those areas where they are currently advantaged - e.g parenting rights, healthcare access, housing access and support.

12. The whole point of insurance is that they do not treat everyone equally. Better drivers get better rates because they are less of a risk of causing an accident and making a claim on their insurance. The opening doors thing is just good manners.

14. how much you pay for your car insurance is derived from how much accidents happen in your specific risk group. an officer or teacher has typically less accidents than a sales men. women have typcially less accidents then men, thus they are cheaper. opening doors is still a matter of courtesy; however I agree with you on one thing: women, if you want emancipation, why don't you do the first step and inititate contact with the guys you like? :)

Car insurance, womens is cheaper, because they are safer drivers. I know this seems hard, but men can prove themselves also. by age 25 there is usually little difference 17 year old lad, first car,aprox £1200 insurance. 17 year old girl first car (same model) aprox £850 insurance. End of year 1, with 1 years no claim bonus, BOTH will pay around £550, However, more girls than boys will actually acheive this bonus. This is because of all the young lads thinking they know it all, and wrecking their cars, and others lives. Think about it.

18. The reason their is woman only car insurance is because car insurance premiums are losely based upon statistics. Statistically woman are less likely to have an accident than a man, so this is reflected in their premiums. These premiums can be reduced further by segregating drivers completely between insurance companies, theirfore reducing claims overall. Sadly what these statistics fail to show is the number of accidents these woman witness in their re-view mirror as they apply their make-up!
19. Yes I know, but the funny thing about insurance is that it is inherantly discriminatory. Your insurance costs are higher if you are old, have been ill in the past etc. Risks for motor insurance are based on percentages and whether you like it or not statistically women are safer drivers - so you are in effect being penalised by the bad driving record of men. Its unfair I know but hey C'est la vie
20. Women get cheaper car insurance because they have fewer car accidents than men. You can argue that the companies offering those products should be forced to offer insurance to men as well - but offering cheaper insurance rates to women is sound commercial practise. It works the other way as well. If a man and women pay exactly the same amount of money into a pension plan and then retire the man will receive a higher annual pension than the women. Pension payments are claculated on the number of years the recipient is expected to live and a woman usually lives longer than a man. So the woman gets less money each year. Now get over it and try holding the door open for anyone who needs your help without worrying about whether they're a man or woman.

23. Insurance rates are dependenant on accident rates.In most of the countries accident rate of women drivers is less than that of men drivers.Drunken driving is less in women.You have to see risk perception of insurance companies.
24. There is a reason why women pay less for car insurance. They cause fewer and less serious accidents. Car insurance rates are determined by how likely you are (statistically) to cause an accident. The ones who pay the most are young males, because they are the ones who cause the most accidents. Women and older and more experienced drivers pay less because they cause less accidents. As for the "women first" and all that stuff, I think women should stop expecting men to do all that stuff for them. If they want to be considered and treated as equals they should take both the good and bad sides of that. I myself am perfectly capable of opening doors by myself and standing on the bus etc. I don't think I should get special treatment just because of my gender.
25. exactly my sentiments (about hte car insurance) They want equal pay eg wimbledon, but hte deal is equal pay for equal work, since when has winning a best of 3 sets match been the same as winning a best of 5 sets match?!! Here where i live (Brighton) theres a gym thats women only. Now if that was a men only gym it was be sexist. About the doors, you do it t be kind and just out of common courtosy, something society is sorely lacking nowadays. Girls hold doors for me when im behind them, and i hold doors for them (and anybody in general) when im in front of them. Nobody would see a woman and a closed door and run around them to open it for them!
26. What a ridiculous question!! As so many people have rightly said, women get (slightly) cheaper insurance because generally they have less accidents and make less claims than men. Would you prefer it if all car insurance was the same? Would that make the world a more equal place for you? Trust me.... there are few benefits to being female in this world (for example, one day some for woman is going to end up married to a pig like you) so let us have our £5 a month cheaper car insurance and we'll let you have the higher wages, greater respect in the work place and silly things like that.

Well as far as car insurance it is because young men ruin it for all men by getting into more accidents by being stupid (Yes I am a guy) As for everything else yes if they want equal rights they need to accept equal responsibilities..but they don't have total equality yet..still pay issues and other stuff so when the rights are addressed we can make sure they endure everything guys put up with too...just another incentive to give them equality..so they can get saddled with all the bs that goes with it like paying for dates, etc

29. Hooooorahhhhh..... I do actually agree with you on this. Women - next time you rear end someone because you're lip stick was running a little low and you thought it a good time to do it while driving and talking on the phone remind yourselves how much better a driver you are before you get out and flirt with the driver of the vehicle you hit to avoid an insurance claim!!!!! I do think equality should mean equality, it's not equal to only want the benefit and not the burden.
