Why do women get cheaper car insurance than men?

Public Comments

  1. they tend to be safer, slower drivers then again you get the horribly bad female drivers
  2. Because, despite Harriden Harpersons assertions, there is no such thing as equality.
  3. Because women are more careful when they drive than men. It is a fact that men get more speeding tickets and have more traffic accidents than women.
  4. I think this might be a rhetorical question. The answer, of course, is that they are better and safer drivers.
  5. Because over all we are much better drivers !!!
  6. because men drive like maniacs are the sole cause of most cases of rages, death by dangerous driving, and other petty offences that do my head in grrrrr!!! charge men more :@
  7. i have no idea i saw a woman take 10 mins to park a car yesterday, and the space was big enough for a bus. Q. if a muslim was quoted more than an english person that would be racist, so why isnt this sexist. sorry didnt mean to bring racism into it but its just something i thought the other day.
  8. Because unlike men we are better drivers and don't treat our cars like an extension of their **** and think the bigger the faster the better!
  9. it goes on accident ratios and men tend to crash more. Everyone knows women drive better than men!! It won't matter shortly as the government is bringing in a law which means that insurance companies wont be able to discriminate due to age and sex etc. This will of course lead to higher premiums for all
  10. because we pay more everywhere else, we pay more for health care, clothing, beauty products...... and we get paid less for the same job. Men are more thoughtless, risk taking and have more accidents than women, we are more care full. Be glad that there is one area we don't have to pay more for!! We also end up paying more for the car than it is worth, and just to add we are treated differently than men. They can change laws all the want to, nothing will change, we will pay more for everything, except car insurance, because even if we do take 10 minutes to park, we are the better drivers. Men should stop whining!! Sexual discrimination, they have no idea what that means, they sure do know how to give to us daily, though. Men are subject to streotype, just as we are!! But one thing I do know is, when in a difficult situation I'd rather have a man driving, than a woman, becasue men do handle these things better, also they are better drivers in storms, snow and mud. Where we will not drive at all. There are men out there that can be all. The older you get the less you pay, I am sure if I was reckless, I'd pay more. But young men do add more the risk, than young women, after that hurdle, it is all about how you have been driving. We can go up in rating or down, men start high and can go down. A fact also is, even even they do take risks, they do take better care of their cars than we do, upkeep is most improtant and that ladies face it men are better.
  11. Because statistically women drivers are less likely to be invoilved in car accidents than male drivers. Thus women drivers are attractive customers to the insurers .
  12. Because we are better drivers than men. I have had compliments from men, when they have been in my car. My answer to that is because other people use the roads, and you do not own it.
  13. Hi. I suppose the logical answer would be , because we are safer. Personally, if I were Male, I would be shouting Sexual Discrimination from every rooftop. If it were reversed and Men got cheap insurance, us girls would be playing the "Discrimination Card". Guys, where are your voices??? Cathorio.
  14. I think it's because women are more careful drivers
  15. It's only a matter of statistics. Between the age 18-25 men in general tend to have more accidents than women. So if you're a insurance company and you insure a 19 year old, you have more chance of having to pay some money because of an accident to that man than if you insure a woman the same age. After 25, the costs are reduced for both but (again statistically speaking) men tend to be involved in a little bit more accident than women. So the statistics are in fact the chance of producing a payment, the more chance of getting involved in a accident you have (because of your gender, your age and your driving history) the better chances that the rates will go up. The only thing a guy can do is to have a good record and no accident and wait to be older.
  16. Because statistics (and that's all that underwriting is about) show that females are a lesser risk to insure than men as they are considered more cautious, considerate drivers based on the number of claims made previously. However, that doesn't mean they all are of course ;-) It's all down to underwriting principles (there's about 10 basics )and is one of the reasons why your insurance also drops fairly significantly as soon as you reach 25. Apparently you're less likely to have an accident and make a claim once you reach that age!
  17. Insurance premiums are set using the recommendations of the company's actuaries who study accident statistics. Women have statistically fewer accidents than men, and the accidents they do have are less serious. Completely objective actuarial studies prove beyond doubt that women drivers are less expensive to insure than men drivers so they receive the benefit of lower premiums.
  18. Because statistically, women are safer drivers than men. I think this has something to do with the motherly instinct. We tend to drive slower and with more care because we want to protect our children and always be there for them. Before I had kids, I adored speed. It was like a drug to me. The faster I went, the higher I got...I would cut corners, run red lights, and pass even when there was a double yellow...all with NO seatbelt. When I became pregnant, I noticed all these things change...I had to protect the little body growing inside me. Now all these things have stuck with me and I'm still a very cautious driver. With men, its a little different. You dont have a baby growing inside you, so you dont change those habits...not to mention kids LOVE riding with dad cuz he takes risks that mom wont, and ultimately the ride is more fun...lol Hope this helps!
  19. I'm not convinced they do Fanny The wife entered all her details into a web insurance form and got a quote. Then left all the details the same except for gender - got exactly the same premium quoted and that was Shiela's Wheels, who make the claim that they favour woman drivers
  20. they cheet.
  21. Tehran has no plans to stop enriching uranium.
  22. Who would you lend money to? Your mum? Or a bank robber? It's all about risk. Women drivers are less likely to do something in a car to make their insurance company have to pay out. That's why her insurance company charges her less than her mad husband's insurance company - cos her mad husband goes raggin' round the estate in his rusty hatchback so is more likely to crash.
  23. It is a fallacy that women are better drivers. The truth is that there are less of them so the averages look worse for men.
  24. because women get lower income.
  25. Many women still do drive on their husbands insurance...so any claim is against his insurance...this is what is counted in the statistics...you don't have to be a certain sex to be a crap driver.. but that never stopped insurance companies whacking up premiums..
  26. Because they have fewer accidents. Premiums are risk assessed, guys, especially when they are young, tend to have more claims against them compared to women.
  27. Because car park prangs rarely give rise to a claim, so they don't get into the statistics. Two extra points - Overly cautious driving isn't good driving, because it causes delays and frustration. Insurance is a pooling of risk. Separate calculations for women as against men, is discriminatory.
  28. If that is true . Then they shouldn't . Everytime I have a problem as a pedestrian its always a female driver .
  29. So,a few of things you are supposed to think.I have had good experience here.......http://car-insurance.online-tips.info/car-insurance-free.htm
