2. Drive Insurance -- used to be called Progressive Insurance, but goes by Drive now. I called every insurance company from all the TV ads when my son turned 15 1/2 (the age for a driver's permit in Ohio) and they are the cheapest in our area.

4. I would call various different agencies for quotes. State Farm has almost always given me the most reasonable rates for coverage provided. Geico, for all of their talk about low rates, has generally been fairly high. Progressive used to have a program where they would give quotes including other companies' rates. I'm not sure if they still do (or if I trust the rates they quote for other companies), but it's worth checking out. I would also try calling different representatives offering insurance from the same company. They don't all charge the same rates. After moving, a friend got a local quote that was several hundred dollars more than one he used from a previous residence in state - he stuck with his old one even though the agency was over 200 miles away and the agent said the rate was still valid and legal at his current location.
