What do you recommend for cheap car insurance for a young driver?

I am 18 and passed my test 3 weeks ago today when i was 17! I have a Ford Fiesta 1.1 N reg! I have done my pass plus too! The best quote i have found is £967 and that is without telling them i have done my pass plus! It was also for third party fire and theft! Can someone recommend a cheap insurance company please! Many thanks By the way that was with direct line!

  1. ensliegh its for young drivers
  2. Hastings Direct Diamond Tescos im with Quinn, there are extremely cheap i pay £290 a year on a 2lt vectra, but then i am 21 Like you said make sure you go third party fire and theft, as paying the extra for fully comp is really not worth it on an older car
  3. When I passed I found the cheapest was Diamond. Try www.confused.com they check with all of them. That's what I did!
  4. If you do find out please tell me.I'm in the same position except I'm 26 and the cheapest I can find is £1000. Good luck
  5. http://www.moneysupermarket.com they will search iover 50 insurers and show the cheapest ones.
  6. admiral.com because their advertising slogan is "We love younger drivers"
  7. I'm 17. When I passed my test 3 months ago, I went on confused.com and they found me a quote from a company called Insure-It-All. I've got a 1.4 litre Rover 214i R reg and it costs me about £80 a month which is £960 a year for third party fire & theft so you should get a quote way cheaper than that with Insure-It-All, especially as you done Pass Plus too, I didn't do that. The phone number is 0870-7707-022. They are really friendly too, I spoke to a man called Nathan Cox :-)
  8. I passed my test a few weeks ago and bought a 1.6 peugeot 106 automatic, I got myself, as a new driver, and my boyfriend who is also a young driver with no pass plus or no claims bonus insured on my car for £550 which I think is great. The company is called Quinn direct. I also did it all online so there is no hassle at all x
  9. You may as well go for fully comp telling them the car is worth £500. Take the BIGGEST excess you can get. It will only take you a couple of trouble free years to earn your own no claims bonus. Tell them about pass plus. Only go tpft if you HAVE to. Congratulations you have got 1 year on the road already, drive safe and in no time your insurance will go down.
  10. your best bet is to try gocompare.com excellent rates plus top rate insurance. good luck
  11. Go to www.confused.com - they will get you to fill in a one-time application then shop around and get you the cheapest/most appropriate quotes - but, while some of them might beat Direct Line, none of them will be cheap!
  12. tell them you have passed the plus exam, this should reduce your quotes, lower your anual milliage to 10,000 as this is about average, unfortunaty due to young drivers driving illegally insurance groups are using it as a excuse to hyke up the cost for young drivers. things to concider during getting a quote: where is car kept, type of security features, modifications to car stupid stuff but the more you tell a insurance group the higher the cost goes, also try offer about £250 excess in the event of a claim the higher you put the lower your premium, get free quotes on line this will save you cost of phone calls, type in car insurance into any search engine such as ask.co.uk or google.
  13. There's certainly no point paying for Comprehensive cover on a car like yours. You'll never get any benefit for the likely huge extra premium, because any damage to your car worth claiming for will likely cost more to repair than the value of the car. So the insurer will just write your car off. If you've opted for a big excess too, you'll also get paid back next to nothing towards the value of the car. So going Fully Comp on a low value car is a total waste of money. Definitely stick to Third Party Fire and Theft. You can earn just as much no claims discount, but won't pay the massive extra premium for no benefit. As well as other suggestions, try a couple of specialist insurers like Adrian Flux, for 'high risk' drivers at http://www.adrianflux.co.uk and Bell Direct for drivers with zero 'No Claims Bonus' at http://www.bell.co.uk Does your car have an alarm & immobiliser? Check the discount for getting one fitted - might be worth it. Also think about an approved steering wheel bar or cover. If you can, keep it in a locked garage overnight. The more security, the better. If possible, also declare a limited mileage, like 5,000 a year instead of the typical 10,000. Hope this helps - good luck!
