2. Try "Cherry Acorn" They're in Essex, but they'll insure you anywhere. They'll be in the phone directory, and when you ring them, a real person answers the phone almost straight away! They know what they're talking about and you can pay in instalments. They also do cheap breakdown cover. We've used them for years and we've never found a cheaper quote, even on the internet.
3. try moneysupermarket.com it is better than confused and other sites, saved me almost 300 quid last year.
