Do you have to have car insurance to get a Florida drivers license?

I'm 16 and about to travel to Florida and currently dont have a license. Do I have to have proof of insurance before I am able to get my teen restricted drivers license down there?

  1. yes you do. if you drive you need coverage. get a free online insurance quote with no intent to buy here... http://www.autoinsurancepros.net
  2. Yes, you need car insurance in every US state
  3. You can go to dmv.org and click on your state to check the specifics for Florida. However, usually you only have to show proof of insurance when registering a car, or renewing the registration... not when getting your license.
  4. You have to be a resident of FL to get a license in the state, you can't just drive down and get one. FL is a no fault insurance state, and any vehicle you drive would have to be insured, but you wouldn't have to show insurance to get a learners permit. Every person under 18 years old MUST hold a Learner’s License for one year – there are NO exceptions to this law. No person may drive alone with a Learner’s License – regardless of age.
