Do you have to have car insurance to get a Florida drivers license?
I'm 16 and about to travel to Florida and currently dont have a license. Do I have to have proof of insurance before I am able to get my teen restricted drivers license down there?

- yes you do. if you drive you need coverage. get a free online insurance quote with no intent to buy here... http://www.autoinsurancepros.net
- Yes, you need car insurance in every US state
- You can go to dmv.org and click on your state to check the specifics for Florida. However, usually you only have to show proof of insurance when registering a car, or renewing the registration... not when getting your license.
- You have to be a resident of FL to get a license in the state, you can't just drive down and get one. FL is a no fault insurance state, and any vehicle you drive would have to be insured, but you wouldn't have to show insurance to get a learners permit. Every person under 18 years old MUST hold a Learner’s License for one year – there are NO exceptions to this law. No person may drive alone with a Learner’s License – regardless of age.
