Whats the average cost of car insurance for a cheap used car?

I just got my license, and am interested in buying a used, cheap car maybe around 2-3k max in price. I was just wondering if i decide to pay monthly for insurance what should i expect to have to pay and if i link my insurance with a parent would it be cheaper? how much should i expect to pay in car insurance>? BTW, my state is New York

2. For who, where, what age, what gender, what driving record, what car, what credit rating? You may or may not have the option of making payments, depending. Yes, if you are under 18 and live at home your cheapest and perhaps only option is being added to a parents policy.
