Public Comments

  1. no
  2. Yes. It's the United States law. If you OWN it you do.
  3. what if gets stolen? you gonna protect you're investment, if the car is worth anything to you? you figure out the rest!
  4. If the car never goes on a public road it doesn't need to be insured.
  5. no you only need insurance if it is a registered car
  6. It depends on where you live. Here where I live in N.C. you don't.
  7. you can pay for storage insurance. yes its a law unless your car is in garage where noone can see it.
  8. Yes even if you just drive it once... If it is going to sit in the garage for a year and never taken out you can get a NON OP permit from the DMV. I do not believe car's with a NON OP need insurance
  9. yes!
  10. Ppl put insurance on their cars because they might get in an accident or ppl will crash into their cars. if your car won't be on the road, you don't need insurance. thats a bunch of money bein' wasted since you won't be driving it!!
  11. as long as it doesn't have a valid tag and you have turned in or accounted for any tag associated with it...then you have no insurance obligation.
  12. As stupid as it is, yes you do have to have insurance. I have a vehicle I haven't driven in about a year. It sits in my garage. But legally I still have to insure it for liability.
  13. I live in Louisiana, and if we have a car we do not drive, the licence plate must be turned in. As long as the plates on it we have to pay insurance. If the insurance is dropped and the plate is not turned into the DMV, they put a flag on your licence.
  14. Nope you do not, if your not driving it none. Though if you get caught driving a car with no insurance, make sure you know what will happen.
  15. In my country, you can have a car sitting in your garage without any license. As long as you don't drive it outside your compound and into the public road, it is okay.
  16. You only have to pay insurance if l. you are still making payments on the car or have a lien on it then you are obligated to keep it insured. 2. If you are driving it on the road. If you are going to leave the car parked you don't have to have insurance although some states will not give you a tag or register without liability insurance. Also if something should happen the car, stolen, or a tree falls on it while not insured it would be your loss.
  17. PERHAPS LIABILITY, BUT ASK YOUR AGENT
  18. Does it have a lien on it? You need to check with your courthouse but you are not required to IF there is no lien or if your not planing on having it licensed... BUT if there is any value you might want to consider to put liability on it...
  19. Of course you need insurance...what if a tree falls on it!
  20. The laws vary. In Texas, you ARE obligated to have insurance on any car that you own. But, if this car is genuinely one that is never driven, your insurance agent/broker will take off everything but that absolute bare bones coverages required by law.
  21. No. If it is on your property and not going anywhere, you don`t have to insure it.
  22. As long as the vehicle is not registered for road use, you don't have to insure it legally. OR, if you live in NH, you aren't required to insure a vehicle. If you have a LOAN on the car, your lender is probably going to require that you insure it, regardless of whether or not it's registered.
