Which company has the cheapest car insurance for teens in north New Jersey?

My dad will only get me a car if I can find really cheap car insurance. I'm 17, male, and live in northern New Jersey, kind of near Short Hills. Which company would have the cheapest insurance if I were to buy a used car?

1. You have to open up the phonebook and call around. Each company looks at different items in order to determine how much to charge. Progressive was the cheapest insurance I could find, but other people told me they were more expensive. Progressive uses credit scores to help determine rates, other companies use driving records. You can be sure that by being a 17 yr old male, that it will be expensive though.
2. You can get free quotes online for your area. They will ask you to give them a bunch of info., including your car details, so you will have to have an idea of what kind of car you hope to get. Sporty cars will cost more to insure, sorry to say. :-) Also, keep in mind that even though you are young, there are things you can get discounts for like good grades, defensive driving classes, etc. Also, it is going to be a lot cheaper to get added to your parent's policy than to get a policy of your own. I will warn you of this, though. If you call your dad's company for a quote and they find out you have a license and live in the same home, they will charge your dad regardless of whether or not he lets you drive his car.
