- it depends on the state you live in,some states will let you just apply for a title without buying a license plate for it,all it will do though is get the title in your name, that's it,it wont allow you to drive it,but at least it will be in your name, most states now though do require insurance to change one,so you,ll have to check with your local dmv to be sure about it,good luck.
- Most states allow you to title a car in your name but not register it (put plates on)without insurance. BUT if you have titled a car in your name when you DO go to register it you must PROVE that you havent driven it or you will get some BIIIIIG fees for failing to register!!!
- You can get the title without insurance. What you can't do is register it (get license plates). And you can't legally drive an unregistered car. If you own it free and clear, you should only be required to carry liability insurance, and that is pretty inexpensive unless your driving record is horrendous.
- I don't know that insurance matters with a title. You can't register the vehicle without insurance and certainly can't drive it.
- You can get a new title in your name without insurance. You'll need to have insurance when you register the vehicle. Just owning the vehicle & leaving it parked (off the road if you don't have plates or insurance) does not mean you have to have insurance on it. don't drive it until you have plates and insurance on it. A site I've recommended in the past would be... http://insurance.deal4-you.com Hope that helps.
